Riederalp - Bettmeralp is the high altitude south facing plateau in the German speaking part of Valais.

With 3 traditional car free resorts that are snow sure and a backdrop of some of the biggest 4000m peaks in the Alps, and of course the famous Aletsch glacier this is a very special and perfect family resort.

The ski area here is not technical nor very large, but for the average skier and those with family it is enough for most. What this region offers is a very special resort at nearly 2000m altitude and open views with plenty of sun. There are no 'high rise' no trendy shops, only a very laid back, traditional resort which is snow covered from December-April.

Travel to this area takes quite long, trains or car from GE or ZH airport then requires one of the large lifts to take you to your destination, as there is no road and no cars in the resort.

Property ownership is hard to obtain, prices are high due to the complications of material transport and a very small building window between June-October. However if you are able to obtain a property here it is hard to see the prices ever going down and there are always plenty of people searching in this region.
