With more than 350 km of hiking trails in one of the most scenically beautiful and diverse valleys in the Valais, the Saas Valley can offer you everything you're looking for. The Saas valley, including the totally traffic-free glacier town of Saas Fee, and other places well worth discovering such as Saas Balen, Saas Grund and Saas Almagell, is surrounded by 18 4'000-metre peaks. Unspoilt natural beauty, genuine hospitality and close links with their cultural heritage characterise the people and places of the SAAS VALLEY. You can travel from Saas-Fee to the «Swiss Glacier Mountain», the Allalin, eat lunch in the world's highest revolving restaurant, and visit the biggest ice pavilion in the world at 3'500 metres above sea level. On the post bus, the many mountain railways and cableways (also in neighbouring Italy!), in the imposing and refreshing ice pavilion, in the indoor swimming pool, and even in the summer ski resort of Saas-Fee. One hundred km of pistes on the glaciers, guaranteed snow all the way down to the valley, a snowboard park, 20 km of winter hiking trails, and a sled run are all part of the extensive range of winter sports on offer. Saas Fee has a younger harder snow-boarder scene than Zermatt, with one of the best Swiss apres-ski and many bars and clubs it is the party goer' choice.

Zermatt

One of the worlds top class resorts, with skiing to match, Zermatt is the ultimate Swiss alpine destination and is a 4-5* resort. The summer and winter activities are endless and the village offers all you will need from an alpine resort. In winter, the snow-assured ski region offers over 300 km of pistes in three varied ski areas: the Sunnegga-Rothorn, Gornergrat-Stockhorn and Schwarzsee-Matterhorn glacier paradise. Snowboarders are able to hone their skills in the "Gravity Park" freestyle fun park in which Olympic hopefuls also train. A crossover to the Italian ski region of Breuil-Cervinia is possible from the Matterhorn glacier paradise / Theodulpass.

Property in the two regions are very hard to find and even harder to purchase as a non-Swiss. Saas Fee is easier with a selection of property and Zermatt is near impossible and often requires purchasers to become Swiss residents of Zermatt or Saas Fee.
